Part 1:

  • What are sequences and why should it be used?
  • Pros of using sequences
  • What is the difference between sequences and a Business Process Flow?

Part 2:

  • How to create sequences
  • What type of settings can be configured

What are Sequences?

Let’s begin by explaining what sequences are and how they can benefit your organization.

Sequences are a way to automatically set consecutive activities on accounts, contacts, lead or opportunities that guide sellers through a process. These steps could include, for instance, making a phone call, booking a meeting, or sending an email. You can set rules between steps to determine the next action.

An example of a sequence might be:

You aim to introduce a new product to all your clients, starting with sending an email brochure, if the customer opens the email, you plan to call and book a meeting after certain number of days. For those who don’t open the email, you want the account manager to send a text message as a reminder.

Pros of using sequences

  • Sequences boost your organization’s activities without infringing on customer time
  • Share best practice within your sales department
  • Automate repetitive actions and help sellers be more productive and save time
  • Provide a guided experience that can assist junior sellers
  • It’s possible to connect a sequence to a segment – this is a fast way to produce many activities

What is the difference between sequences and a Business Process Flow?

Business Process Flow (BPF)  in Dynamics Sales is primarily used for opportunity or lead managment. To build and improve the customer relationship, sequences can complement the BPF.

User interaction:

For a classic BPF, the user is able to see the steps with the checkbox below.

The steps of a sequence will not be visible, however, the name of the sequence will be displayed, and the activity will be evident in ‘Up Next’ (or wherever you display your activities).

Next blog part about sequences will focus on:

  • How to create sequences
  • What type of settings can be configured
