Focused View in Dynamics Sales

Technical Level: Easy

Are you frequently toggling between different views and client/opportunity/contact forms in Microsoft Dynamics Sales? Good news! With Microsoft’s latest update Focused View, multitasking just got smoother.

So, what exactly is Focused View? In simple terms, it lets you simultaneously manage accounts, contacts, leads, and opportunities while maintaining a view of your choice. This feature cuts down the time spent navigating through multiple screens.

Here’s a quick guide:

  1. Display a typical view of you accounts (or opportunities or contacts)
  2. Click on Focused View to open a new panel. This allows you to switch between accounts while keeping the Focused View active.

Advantages:

  • Streamlines workflow by eliminating the need to flip between screens.
  • Provides an easy, comprehensive overview of clients and tasks, enabling efficient progression through your list.
  • Offers the flexibility to select from all your views.

Coming in Release Wave 2 2023 (Public Preview in October), Focused View can be set as the default option for various tables. However, if you choose Focused View as your default, the standard list view won’t be available. You can set Focused view as deafult in Advanced Settings, and you choose the tables you want this setting for.

It is possible to configure the look of the Focused View, just click the Settings button. You can add up to four fields of your choice to the Focused View.

Key Points:

  • Currently, Focused View supports Account, Contact, Lead, and Opportunity tables only. Custom tables aren’t included yet.
  • No special administrative setup is needed – it’s ready to use straight out of the box.

In conclusion:

I recommend giving Focused View a try to see if it meets your needs. Experiment with its filtering capabilities and overall usability. Initially, it might be wise to use Focused View as an optional feature rather than setting it as your default. This way, you can better gauge its effectiveness in your workflow.
