Never miss a new cool feature again!

New features in Microsoft Dynamics CRM: Overwhelmed by Release Wave 1 and 2? Help is here!

Feeling overwhelmed about Microsoft CRM’s new features? You are not alone. This blogpost is here to guide you how to stay informed!

First, let’s clarify some important concepts.

Release Wave
Microsoft introduces two Release Waves each year.

Early access
Before each Release Wave there is an Early Access period. During this time, you can request permisson to try out the features in advance. This requst can be made in Power Platform Admin Center.

Public Preview
During a Release Wave, there might be a period where all Dynamics users can experiment with new features before they are offically released.

General Availability
This is the date when a new feature becomes available to all users. It marks the point when the feature is fully live and operational.

Tip number 1: Microsoft Learn

Microsoft Learn stands as the premier source for information about Release Waves and upcoming features.  Sometimes the documentation is a little bit boring and not so visual, but Microsoft improves this area with each Release wave. Microsoft frequentely provides videos and presentations alongside the written documentation.

Tip number 2: Microsoft Release Planner

Microsoft Release Planner offers a visually engaging approach to the same information found on Microsoft Learn. It enables you to create “My Release Plans”, where you can select and save new features that you’re interested in adding in your pipeline. Release Planner could be useful as a collaborative tool, fostering better planning between Microsoft Partners and Users.

Tip number 3: License Guide

Perhaps not the most thrilling resource, but certainly a valuble one! Understanding what’s included in your Microsoft Dynamics license (Professional, Enterprise or Premium) is crucial. Microsoft typically updates this guide monthly, and it includes change notes for quick and efficient reference.

Staying informed about your license specifics can help you make the most of your Dynamics and ensure you are aware of new features.

Social media platforms like LinkedIn, X or Youtube are great for connecting with Dynamcis experts. Find and follow individuals whose insights align with your needs, and don’t shy away from engaging with them through questions and discussion!

Tip number 5: Join an in-person Dynamics community

Engage directly with fellow Dynamics enthusiast by joining an in-person community! Often, the best learing experiences come from discussing and exchaning ideas other Dynamics individuals. Look for a in-person group near you.

A tip is also to visit forums and read questions and anwsers. Sales Forum.

Tip number 7: Follow a Dynamics blog

Lastly, following a blog is highly recommeded. Many MVPs (Most Valuble Professional) maintain blogs. Search on LinkedIn or find a MVP here.

A tip is to follow Power Platform Weekly, this group will provide you with a lot of relevant topics and articles to read, not only from MVPs. Find a blog or article you like here: Power Platform Weekly.

Good luck!
